Student Life

Daily Schedule

8:00 a.m. – 3:20 p.m. | Monday – Friday

Sion's standard daily schedule is the primary schedule for most of the school year. Sion has a ‘late start’ schedule twice a month for faculty training, and these dates are noted on the calendar at the beginning of the school year. Additionally, school-wide events and holidays may cause this schedule to vary. Before and after-school care is available for families who need an extended schedule.

Lunch Program

Notre Dame de Sion is proud to partner with GROW, Kitchen & Kids to provide healthy, balanced, made-from-scratch school lunches for our hot lunch program. GROW, Kitchen & Kids is passionate about using pure ingredients, and is dedicated to sourcing from local producers including our very own on-campus Sion Garden. Families can feel confident that each meal is prepared fresh using quality ingredients, with balanced nutrition and attention to value.

GROW, kitchen & kids operates a peanut-free kitchen. If you have severe medical food allergies or concerns, please email jackie@growkitchenandkids.com.

Uniforms

Notre Dame de Sion provides a dress code to promote an atmosphere conducive to learning, enhance personal pride and dignity, and project a positive school image to the community. The dress code helps us focus on the essential tasks at school, teaching, and learning. Students demonstrate their commitment to school spirit and community by following the uniform expectations.

For students in grades five through eight, dress uniforms are worn on special occasions, including all school masses, specific field trips, and ceremonies. Sion athletic wear can also be purchased at SchoolBelles Uniforms. A detailed outline of our Uniform Guidelines can be found here.

SchoolBelles Uniforms
Notre Dame de Sion partners with SchoolBelles Uniforms to provide durable, high-quality uniforms. Uniforms can be purchased on the SchoolBelles website online at any time. Our school code is S3244.
Spirit Wear
At the grade school, spirit wear is sold through the Sion ALLiance parent organization. Students have multiple opportunities to wear their Sion spirit t-shirts or spirit sweatshirts throughout the year. Spirit wear can be purchased online during promotional windows, or at special events throughout the year.

“Civvies” Days

Special days throughout the school year are designated as “Civvies Days” for students to opt into wearing Sion spiritwear or team colors of Kansas City sports teams (ie. Royals, Chiefs and Sporting) as opposed to our Sion school uniform. Students can choose their clothing to fit the spirit of the occasion, however their attire must conform to our uniform guidelines.

Maisons

  • “Maisons” (the French word for “home”) is a student program designed to build community outside of students’ immediate circles, to teach students how to serve others and be leaders in the school, and to create opportunities for students to shine in non-academic capacities.
  • Each Maison is made up of 13-15 students from grades 6th-8th, and students stay in the same “color-specific” Maison all 3 years of middle school.
  • Groups meet once per six day rotation, on Chapel Days for weekly bible readings, community service, team-building, faith formation, and the Reading Buddies program where they engage with younger students in the school.

Signature Student Events

Various special events are planned during the school days throughout the year to encourage learning and school spirit through celebration and hands-on experiences. Most events are school-wide with the exception of some long-standing 8th grade traditions that are dedicated to our graduating class.
