We are excited to offer summer programming to our families again this summer. Please join us in a summer that is certain to be remembered. We are excited to bring back some of our top tier summer programs as well as introduce some new options for the 2023 summer. Most camps are capped at 22 students (there will be a waitlist should that become necessary)  and most have a minimum requirement of 6 students to take place. You will be notified if a camp needs to be canceled due to low enrollment. Please see the information below and get signed up- Space is limited! Cost
Full Day classes (9am-4pm): $300*
Half Day classes (9am-12pm/1-4pm): $120-$175*
EDP: $40
**one time administration fee will be charged per student: $30
 
Lunch
Thanks to Sion parent and alumna, Jackie Kincaid, we are excited to offer lunch again this summer. Take the stress of packing a lunch for your camper off your hands and into ours! Students can sign up weekly for lunch or bring their own. As of right now, we are only able to offer lunch for the month of June. Should this change, we will let families know to sign up separately for the month of July. 
$6/lunch, $30/day
 
COVID-19 Guidance
Summer Camp at Sion will follow all CDC and Kansas City Health department regulations in regards to COVID-19. Based on current guidance, masks are not required but encouraged for anyone immunocompromised. Handwashing, sanitizing, and a regular cleaning of classrooms and materials will be mandatory during the duration of the summer. Should a student test positive for COVID while attending camp, please email staff and follow proper quarantine protocols.

Weekly Offerings

Before and After Care (EDP)
Need coverage before and after camp? We’ve got you covered. Sign your student up for Morning and/or Afternoon EDP to enjoy some extra fun in the sun. Morning EDP is from 8:00-9:00am. Afternoon EDP is from 4:00-5:00pm. Students picked up later than 5:00pm will be subject to additional fees. A minimum of 6 students must be signed up for EDP to take place.

Petite Adventures
Led by Ms. Audrey Smith and Ms. Jessica Beery, Petite Adventures in the sun is ideally suited to meet the developmental needs of two-year-olds before transitioning to our Montessori classrooms. Students must be 2 years old on their first day of camp. 
*Petite Adventures must have a minimum of 3 students per week signed up.
Weekly from 9am-4pm, June 5-July 28th

Montessori Adventures
Led by our esteemed Montessori Faculty, Sion Summer Adventures in Montessori allows your child to join mini-communities of 3, 4, and 5 year olds. Classes will be capped at 12 students per teacher. A minimum of 6 students must be signed up for camp to take place. Students will be supported in an atmosphere of calm, order, and joy as our trained instructors encourage students to actively engage in age-appropriate curriculum. Students must be fully potty-trained to be eligible for this class.
Weekly from 9am-4pm, June 5-July 28th
$300/week
 
Swimming 
Led by our summer swim instructor, students will have the opportunity to brush up on their swimming skills over the summer in Sion’s pool. Due to the nature of the class, all swim classes will be capped at 6 students. Our teacher  will meet each student where they are at in their water abilities and teach new skills to get your student to the next level. Classes will be weekly over the course of 6 weeks. Be sure to sign your child up for the correct swim day based on age. 
**An adult must be present the entire time the swim class is taking place. Parents/guardians will be responsible for getting students in and out of their swim gear. Locker rooms will be available for use.
 
Weekly from 8:00-8:40am, June 12-July 21st
Mondays: 3 -4 year olds
Wednesdays: 5-6 year olds
Fridays: 7 and above
$40/lesson: $240 for the six week summer course
 

WEEK 1: JUNE 5-9

Spanish Through the Arts
¡Hola, estudiantes! In this camp, Mrs. Mahlik will teach you the beauty of the Spanish language through music, dance, drawing, and more! This camp is ideal for beginner-intermediate level Spanish speaking students. This class is capped at 22 students and must have a minimum of 6 signed up to take place. Students must be entering Kindergarten-3rd grade to enroll in this camp.
9am-12pm, $150
 
Stories and Sunshine
Join Mrs. Maloney in this kick-off to summer reading! Students will pair hilarious and exciting summer-themed books with crafts and more. It’s the perfect way to begin your summer reading journey. This class is capped at 22 students and must have a minimum of 6 signed up to take place. Students must be entering Kindergarten-3rd grade to enroll in this camp.
9am-12pm, $150
 
Going Craft Crazy
Ms. Baskerville is ready to take young crafters on a crazy adventure! We'll spend our time reading different stories aloud, exploring story elements - plot, character evolution, theme, and author's purpose.  We'll follow by going Craft Crazy, making crafts that represent one of the stories for the day. This class is capped at 22 students and must have a minimum of 6 signed up to take place. Students must be entering Kindergarten-3rd grade to enroll in this camp.
1-4pm, $150
 
Fitness and Fun
Join Coach Temple and his team for a week of fitness and fun in the Sion gym. Temple Made Fitness proudly presents a new and updated refresh to the animal movements class. Your student is sure to be tired and thrilled after this week of camp. There is no enrollment for this camp but must have at least 6 students signed up to take place. Students must be entering Kindergarten-5th grade to enroll in this camp.

WEEK 2: JUNE 12-16

Animal Adventures
Join Mrs. Mahlik in a week of exploring the animals of the world. Your student will learn about animals through art, movement, song, and literature. This class is capped at 22 students and must have a minimum of 6 signed up to take place. Students must be entering Kindergarten-3rd grade to enroll in this camp.
9am-12pm, $150
 
Painting
Join Mrs. Collins in a week of painting! Students in this camp will learn different styles of painting, explore works by famous painters, and create their own masterpiece. This class is capped at 22 students and must have a minimum of 6 signed up to take place. Students must be entering Kindergarten-3rd grade to enroll in this camp.
9am-12pm, $150
 
Making Math Splash
Ms. Baskerville is sure to bring math to life in this exciting summer camp! Students will explore different foundational math concepts - addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, area, perimeter, and volume - and using water to do it! This class is capped at 22 students and must have a minimum of 6 signed up to take place. Students must be entering Kindergarten-3rd grade to enroll in this camp.
1-4pm, $150
 
Boomwhackers and Bells
Come make some sweet summertime music with our favorite music teacher, Mrs. Stafford! In this class, students will learn the basics of note reading, play fun music games, and create performances that will be music to your ears. This class is capped at 22 students and must have a minimum of 6 signed up to take place. Come enjoy in-person music learning at Sion! Students must be entering Kindergarten-3rd grade to enroll in this camp.

WEEK 3: JUNE 19-23

Baking
Do you love treats? Are you interested in science? Do you want to combine the two? Then this is the camp for you! Join Mrs. Evans in the kitchen for a week filled with measuring, scooping, mixing, and more. Students will come home each day with a treat to enjoy! This class is capped at 22 students and must have a minimum of 6 signed up to take place. Students must be entering K-3rd grade to enroll in this camp.

Rolling with Reading
Are you looking to boost your reading skills this summer? Join Ms. Johnson in this fun and engaging summer camp to grow in your literacy learning! This camp is available for students of all reading levels who are looking to brush up on their reading. This class is capped at 22 students and must have a minimum of 6 signed up to take place. Students must be entering Kindergarten-3rd grade to enroll in this camp.
9am-12pm, $120
 
Spanish for Beginners
No need to get too technical here, it’s just like it sounds.  We'll spend the week learning beginning Spanish vocabulary and phrases. Games will be played, and fun will be had.This class is capped at 22 students and must have a minimum of 6 signed up to take place. Students must be entering K-3rd grade to enroll in this camp.

Photography Tips and Tricks
Do you love to take photos on your iPhone or iPad? Would you like to learn how to create more with your photos? This is the class for you! Join Ms. Johnson in this photography class to learn all of the tips and tricks to taking good pictures, editing your pictures, and creating more from your work. This class is capped at 22 students and must have a minimum of 6 signed up to take place. Students must be entering K-3rd grade to enroll in this camp.

WEEK 4: JUNE 26-30

Chess
Learn Chess from the best! We are excited to welcome the Kansas City Chess Club back to Sion for another exciting week of Chess. Join Mr. Fee and the  KC Chess Club team in a week of improving your chess skills, learning some new moves, and having fun! This class is open to chess players of all levels. This class must have a minimum of 6 signed up to take place. Students must be entering Kindergarten-5th grade to enroll in this camp.

Under the Sea with Ms. Muenks
Take a dive down deep with Ms. Muenks to learn more about the ocean and all it has to offer! This ocean-themed camp will take you on an adventure you won’t want to miss. Join us for a week of sea creatures, water splash downs, and more! This class is capped at 22 students and must have a minimum of 6 signed up to take place. Students must be entering Kindergarten-3rd grade to enroll in this camp.

Water Fitness with Coach Temple
We've been to the imaginary jungle and stomped around with Gigi the Giraffe and friends, and now we're taking everyone to the sea and diving in!  Water exercises will focus on swimming techniques, resistance training, injury prevention, and more! There is no enrollment for this camp but must have at least 6 students signed up to take place. Students must be entering 3rd-5th grade to enroll in this camp.

Cuisine Camp with Mr. Lasko
Do you have a passion for cooking? Do you love to learn about other cultures? Combine those two and this is the camp for you! Join Mr. Lasko on a cooking adventure that will bring you to places all over the world. This class is capped at 22 students and must have a minimum of 6 signed up to take place. Students must be entering Kindergarten-3rd grade to enroll in this camp.

WEEK 5: JULY 3-7

Space Aliens
Are you ready to take a trip to Outer Space? No need to be friends with Bezos for this one- we’ve got Bowman! Join Mrs. Bowman for a week of space-week camp activities that will take you out of this world.  This class is capped at 22 students and must have a minimum of 6 signed up to take place. Students must be entering Kindergarten-3rd grade to enroll in this camp.
9am-12pm, $120
 
Mad Science with Mx. Hynson
Students in this camp will be exploring the science around them—in nature, through science experiments, and through stem challenges. It's guaranteed to be a fun time, even in the summer heat! This class is capped at 22 students and must have a minimum of 6 signed up to take place. Students must be entering 3rd-5th grade to enroll in this camp.
9am-12pm, $120
 
Drama
Join Ms. Killian for a drama-filled Students will learn about improvisation, pantomime, auditions, dancing, singing, memorization, a little bit of technical theater, and more. All classes end with a performance for family and friends. This class is capped at 22 students and must have a minimum of 6 signed up to take place. Students must be entering 3rd-5th  grade to enroll in this camp.

Box City
Explore some amazing architecture from around the world with Mrs. Bowman and Ms. Nelson this summer! In this camp, students will learn research skills as they discover unique buildings from different parts of the world. Then, they will recreate some on their own! This class is capped at 22 students and must have a minimum of 6 signed up to take place. Students must be entering Kindergarten-3rd grade to enroll in this camp.

WEEK 6: JULY 10-14

Backyard Sports
This camp falls in the middle of July to bring new life to your summer backyard games! Join Ms. Johnson in a week of learning and playing some new games that will have all the neighborhood kids begging to play. This class is capped at 22 students and must have a minimum of 6 signed up to take place. Students must be entering Kindergarten-3rd grade to enroll in this camp.
9am-12pm, $150
 
Music Around the World
Our world thrives on music from many cultures, genres, and artists. Mrs. Stafford is the ultimate music tour guide when it comes to Music Around the World and she is ready for you to come abroad. Join us for a week of celebrating music culture and all that the world has to offer. This class is capped at 22 students and must have a minimum of 6 signed up to take place. Students must be entering Kindergarten-3rd grade to enroll in this camp.
9am-12pm, $150
 
And All That Jazz (Grades 4-6)
In All That Jazz camp, We will have lots of fun Jammin' together as we learn about Jazz musicians, how to improvise on instruments, scat sing, and explore some of our own KC Jazz history, including a field trip to the American Jazz Museum. Come ready to sing, say, dance, and play! This class is capped at 22 students and must have a minimum of 6 signed up to take place. This camp is for incoming 4th - 6th graders, and students who play an instrument are encouraged to bring it. 
1-4pm, $175 (includes field trip admission)
 
Reading and Robots
Jump into the world of robots in this literature-based robot class. Mrs. Bowman is guaranteed to bring a hands-on learning experience guided by some of the best robot books out there. This class is capped at 22 students and must have a minimum of 6 signed up to take place. Students must be entering Kindergarten-3rd grade to enroll in this camp.

WEEK 7: JULY 17-21

Spa Sensations
It’s been a long summer and your child will need to relax by mid-July. Ms. Muenks is here to help! Join us for a week of spa-themed activities, crafts, and full on rest and relaxation. This class is capped at 22 students and must have a minimum of 6 signed up to take place. Students must be entering Kindergarten-3rd grade to enroll in this camp.

Fossil Fun
Do you enjoy digging for things? Are you interested in prehistoric animals? This is the class for you! Join Ms. Smirnova on a fossil adventure to deepen your understanding of the world long before you were born. This class is capped at 22 students and must have a minimum of 6 signed up to take place. Students must be entering Kindergarten-3rd grade to enroll in this camp.

Everyone is an Artist
Get ready to spark creativity in this art-inspired camp with Ms. McCrorey.  Campers will learn about how art is accessible for all regardless of their prior art experience and skills. We will see how art is everywhere around us and has been a part of humanity forever! This camp includes a field trip to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Camp is capped at 22 students and must have a minimum of 6 signed up to take place. Students must be entering grades 3-5 to enroll in this camp.

Gardening Galore
Time to pull out those garden gloves and get to work! Mr. Lasko is our resident green thumb and will help your student learn tips and techniques to create a gorgeous garden. This is a great opportunity to learn about various outdoor topics such as the bugs you can find in the garden or growing vegetables for a salad. This class is capped at 22 students and must have a minimum of 6 signed up to take place. Students must be entering Kindergarten-3rd grade to enroll in this camp.

WEEK 8: JULY 25-29

Clay Creations
Join Ms. Muenks in this art themed camp that focuses on the art of clay making. Students will create different masterpieces each day to take home and show off. This class is capped at 22 students per week and must have a minimum of 6 signed up to take place. Students must be entering Kindergarten-3rd grade to enroll in this camp.

Back to School Math
School is right around the corner which means math class is coming soon! There’s no better way to brush up on those math skills before the first day of school than with fun games and activities.
