MID-LEVEL GRADES

Notre Dame de Sion’s Middle School program is dedicated to building knowledge and confidence as students transition into young adulthood. Creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication are instilled into our middle schoolers as they acquire the skills necessary for a successful high school career. The student to teacher ratio in the mid-level classes is 15-17 students to one instructor.

Sion’s Middle School academic program immerses pupils in a comprehensive curriculum that includes the traditional core disciplines of Reading and Writing, Integrated Math, Pre-algebra, Algebra1, and Geometry. In addition, they study Social Studies/Humanities, Holy Ground, and Science with STEM labs and continue to benefit from enrichment courses including art, band, strings, PE, French or Spanish, Counselor’s Care class and Health class.

We designed the overall curriculum to provide significant reinforcement beyond standard teaching learning. Through the integration of project-based service-learning and cross-curricular content, the Middle School faculty guides students to become engaged problem-solvers who make a positive impact in their community. Dedicated to understanding and meeting the needs of the whole student, including academic, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs, faculty members support these 10-14 year-olds throughout some of the most impactful years of their lives.

MID-LEVEL GRADE EXTRACURRICULARS:

Our Middle Division program offers a wide range of extracurricular activities that cater to various interests and abilities. Students may participate in cross-country, volleyball, basketball, or track practices aligned with the Parochial League of Kansas City when not engaged in homework or service activities. We also offer select After-School Academies—such as math club, science club, geometry workshop, swimming, drama class, chess, karate, or world language—which expand academic and physical abilities and strengthen creative expression options. This diverse range of programming encourages students to explore their interests and develop their skills outside class.
