Academic Support & Personal Counseling Services

Sion is committed to supporting each student’s academic and personal growth, empowering each young woman to use her unique gifts as she becomes a self-confident, faith-filled adult.

Sion’s counselors serve as guides for each student as she navigates her way through high school.  Our comprehensive school counseling plan ensures that students develop a set of skills that will support them in college and beyond.

Academic Planning

Before students begin their first year at Sion, they meet with counselors to review their course placement and elective choices. This relationship continues as the counselors and students work together to develop a four-year plan that prepares students for successful life beyond Sion.

Social-Emotional Learning

Through individual meetings, classroom visits, small group work, and school-wide initiatives, the counselors develop programming to help students understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.

Responsive Services

There may be times when a student struggles with issues of physical or mental health. Sion’s counselors act as advocates during these times by coordinating communication and treatment plans with families, teachers, and health care professionals.

Learning Differences

Sion offers limited accommodations to students with diagnosed learning differences. Sion’s accommodations counselor works closely with students and families to build personal advocacy skills and create an environment that builds on the student’s strengths.
