College Counseling

Sion’s College Counseling department provides a four-year, comprehensive and individualized program to prepare students for successful application, acceptance and matriculation into college.

The college counseling program is designed to meet the needs of students and families at each stage of the high school experience. Programming is delivered through individual and family meetings, classroom and small group presentations, college rep visits and college tours, morning coffees and evening workshops.

Our goal is to help each student discover the college or university that is the best academic, personal and financial fit for her and her family. This process requires introspection, exploration, and research. Through individual and family conversations, interests and strengths assessments, academic planning and surveys, college counselors help students to identify their priorities and build a balanced college list.

College counselors collaborate with admission officers at universities, visit college campuses, and participate in regional and national conferences to reinforce Sion’s reputation of graduating well-rounded individuals, faith-filled global citizens, and servant leaders.

Test Preparation

Sion’s faculty prepares students to understand the content they need to be successful on college entrance exams. Our counselors provide a support system for preparing for the ACT and SAT. This includes multiple opportunities for practice exams, weekend review courses with Sion faculty, immediate test preparation with Princeton review, and structured times during the year for analysis and goal setting based on practice test results.

Grade 9: Pre-ACT in September
Grades 10-11: Practice ACT in September, PSAT in October
Grade 11: All School ACT in April
