High School Summer Programs

Notre Dame de Sion High School offers a variety of sports camps, academic courses, and college preparatory workshops to expand and enhance your skill set!

Sion Sports Camps create opportunities for girls in grades 3 - 8 to develop skills through individual instruction and peer interaction in the sport of their choice. Our dedicated team of coaches prepares athletes to fulfill their potential on the court and the field.

Sion's Summer Academic Programs include High School Bridge for incoming 9th graders & the College Essay & Applications Workshops for rising seniors.  All course will take place at the High School campus.  Our College Essay & Application Workshops are open to non-Sion students.

Summer Academic Programs

  • High School Bridge Program

    To ensure a smooth academic transition from middle school to high school, Sion offers the High School Bridge Program. This program is designed to equip incoming freshmen with the tools they need to navigate a new academic environment and familiarize themselves with the rigor of the Sion curriculum.

    The Pre-Algebra Course reinforces concepts such as:
    • addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
    • negative numbers & fractions
    • order of operations
    • exponents
    • multi-step equations
    • ratios & proportions
    All work is done without a calculator to prepare students for their Algebra I course in the fall. A written evaluation of each student will be provided to the parents at the end of the first two weeks and again at the end of the session. These evaluations will include a letter grade. Attendance is important. Students are allowed to miss up to two class periods.   Cost: $200

    The English Course reinforces concepts such as:
    • parts of speech
    • paragraph writing
    • punctuation rules and application
    • critical reading skills & analysis 
    • vocabulary

    Students will complete one of the summer reading novels and produce a written response to the literature. A written evaluation of each student will be provided to the parents at the end of the first two weeks and again at the end of the session. These evaluations will include a letter grade. Attendance is important. Students are allowed to miss up to two class periods.   Cost: $200

  • College Application Completion Workshop

    Ready to apply to college? Summer is the ideal time to prepare for senior year without the commitments, distractions, and workload of the school year. Join Sion’s college counselors for a half-day bootcamp aimed at helping ​seniors complete and – if ready – submit their college applications before school starts​.
    Whether you plan to submit the Common Application to several colleges or apply directly to your schools of choice using college-specific applications, ​you’ll receive the support you need​ to sit down and complete your applications. Counselors will help guide you through each section of the Common App and will be on hand to answer any questions as you navigate each application.
     

    The College App Completion Workshop will be facilitated by Sion’s college counselors, Erin Stein and Heather Henning. Ms. Stein and Mrs. Henning bring a collective 18 years of college admission and 15 years of college counseling experience. In their roles at William Jewell College (Stein) and the University of Missouri (Henning), they reviewed countless applications and are well equipped to guide students through the application completion and submission process.

  • College Essay and Resume Clinic

    Want to get a jumpstart on the college application process and lighten your load for the fall? Summer is the perfect time to prepare for your senior year without the commitments, distractions, and workload of the school year. Take time to hone your “voice” through the writing process and receive constructive feedback on your essay and resume from college admissions professionals. The clinic will last six days, 2.5 hours per day. Sessions are limited and spots are given on a first-come basis.  Priority is given to students currently enrolled at Sion, but students from other schools may apply. The $270 fee includes the text: On Writing the College Application Essay. 

    August 2nd – 9th  (6-day clinic: Tues, Weds, Thurs, Fri, Mon, Tues)
    -August 2nd - 5th: class will meet from 12:30pm-3pm (2:30-3pm - optional in-class work time)
    -August 8th & 9th: class will meet from 2:00-4:30 (4pm-4:30pm - optional in-class work time)

  • Basketball Camp

    This camp is designed for the player who wants to work on fundamentals and will focus on passing, defense, ball-handling, and shooting. Learn two-on-two and three-on-three offensive and defensive fundamentals | Coach Chad Lynn | Cost: $95.00

  • Soccer Camp

  • Volleyball Camp

  • Lacrosse Camp

    Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing team sports in the United States and you can experience it at Sion.  The sport is a combination of basketball, soccer, and hockey.  Learn how to throw, catch, and scoop the ball with a lacrosse stick and the fundamentals of the game.
