High School Summer Programs

Notre Dame de Sion High School offers a variety of sports camps, academic courses, and college preparatory workshops to expand and enhance your skill set!

Sion Sports Camps create opportunities for girls in grades K - 8 to develop skills through individual instruction and peer interaction in the sport of their choice. Our dedicated team of coaches prepares athletes to fulfill their potential on the court and the field.

With Sion's Summer Academic Programs, students in grades 9-12 can expand their knowledge and their opportunities by enrolling in our academic summer courses and workshops. Courses are open to Sion and non-Sion students and will take place at the High School campus.

  • Basketball Camp

    This camp is designed for the player who wants to work on fundamentals will focus on passing, defense, ball-handling and shooting. Learn two-on-two and three-on-three offensive and defensive fundamentals.  
    We offer two sessions for basketball camp to meet the needs of a variety of ages:  Girls in grades 3-6 and girls in grades 7-9 | Coach Kate Pilgreen | Cost: $95

  • Field Hockey Camp

  • Lacrosse Camp

    Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing team sports in the United States and you can experience it at Sion. The sport is a combination of basketball, soccer, and hockey. Learn how to throw, catch, and scoop the ball with a lacrosse stick and the fundamentals of the game. Lacrosse is a competitive sport at Sion.

  • Soccer Camp

  • College Application Completion Workshop

    Ready to apply to college? Join Sion’s college counselors for a half-day boot camp aimed at helping seniors complete and submit their college applications before senior year begins! Whether you plan to submit the Common Application or a college-specific application (KU, K-State, etc.), you’ll receive the support you need to sit down and complete your applications. Cost: $30.00

  • Class of 2023 Book Club

    Join Sion English teacher Ms. Casey Engel as she introduces the two required freshman summer reading selections, Sue Monk Kidd's The Secret Life of Bees and Harper Lee's To Kill A Mockingbird. She will highlight important aspects of both works, provide study guide materials, model reading strategies, and share samples of treats that protagonists Lily and Scout enjoyed during their summers. 
    Nota bene: Students must bring their books with them to Book Club, as we will read aloud from each selection and practice annotation.

  • College Essay and Resume Clinic

    Want to get a jumpstart on the college application process and lighten your load for the fall? Summer is the perfect time to prepare for your senior year without the commitments, distractions, and workload of the school year. Take time to hone your “voice” through the writing process and receive constructive feedback on your essay and resume from college admissions professionals. The clinic will last six days, 2.5 hours per day. Sessions are limited to 18 students and spots are given on a first-come basis.  Priority is given to students currently enrolled at Sion, but students from other schools may apply. The $250 fee includes the text: On Writing the College Application Essay.

  • Dimensions in Visual Arts Course for High School Credit

    Dimensions in Visual Art is a class for the beginning high school art student. Students will use a variety of materials and be guided in expression, creativity, and refining problem-solving skills to increase visual vocabulary and individual style.  This course is open to any student in grades 9-12. Students who are entering the 8th grade in 2019 and who are interested in attending Sion High School may also enroll. Credit earned will be applied to their Sion High School transcript. Cost: $380

  • High School Bridge Program

    To ensure a smooth academic transition from middle school to high school, Sion offers the High School Bridge Program. This program is designed to equip incoming freshmen with the tools they need to navigate a new academic environment and familiarize themselves with the rigor of the Sion curriculum.

    The Pre-Algebra Course reinforces concepts such as:
    • addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
    • negative numbers & fractions
    • order of operations
    • exponents
    • multi-step equations
    • ratios & proportions
    All work is done without a calculator to prepare students for their Algebra I course in the fall. A written evaluation of each student will be provided to the parents at the end of the first two weeks and again at the end of the session. These evaluations will include a letter grade. Attendance is important. Students are allowed to miss up to two class periods.   Cost: $200

    The English Course reinforces concepts such as:
    • parts of speech
    • paragraph writing
    • punctuation rules and application
    • critical reading skills & analysis 
    • vocabulary

    Students will complete one of the summer reading novels and produce a written response to the literature. A written evaluation of each student will be provided to the parents at the end of the first two weeks and again at the end of the session. These evaluations will include a letter grade. Attendance is important. Students are allowed to miss up to two class periods.   Cost: $200
