Storm Stomp

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make Storm Stomp 2016 a huge success! This year, we raised over $42,000 to go toward scholarships for future Sion girls. We could not have done it without you!

What is Storm Stomp?

If you haven’t witnessed a Sion girl parade into the gymnasium in an outrageous costume to support her classmates, then you’ve been missing out on one of Sion’s greatest annual events! Come support the excitement at this year’s annual Storm Stomp on Friday, October 14. The 3-on-3 basketball tournament (it’s just for fun, no skills required) raises money through sponsorships and team registrations for an endowed scholarship fund for financially qualified students.

Alumnae Kathryn Reintjes Ashley ’03 and Sarah Reintjes Kelly ’03 launched the event in 2002 as their senior service project. Future students have embraced the event and over the years it has grown into something very special. Because of the enthusiasm of our students, the Storm Stomp Scholarship fund is growing and Sion is awarding financial assistance to more students. Each year current high school students apply to serve on a committee to coordinate all aspects of the event, including team logistics, fundraising and event planning.

Storm Stomp is a great way for high school girls to support their classmates and get involved right at the start of the school year. Grade school girls, faculty and alumnae are also encouraged to play, so dig into your costume closet and get involved!

Team Registration

  • 3 persons per team/$20 per person
  • Lots of prizes, including grand prize for Best Team Costume for Faculty, High School and Grade School!
  • Dance Team, Cheerleader & Drumline Performances
  • Competition level is “FUN ONLY

Middle School Registration

Sion's middle school girls may pick up a registration form from Mrs. Rutledge on the Grade School Campus. If you are an 8th grade girl from another school, please contact the Admissions Office to sign up.

Prizes

One of the best parts of Storm Stomp is the prizes! In the weeks leading up to the event, there will be weekly drawings for prizes for students who turn in their team registrations in advance. There are also fun awards the day of the event for the best costumes and tournament winners!
