Media & Library Resource Center

In today's world, the ability to access, evaluate, and use information is vital to success in high school, college, in the workforce and in daily life. The mission of Sion's Media & Library Resource Center is to assist students and staff in becoming independent, efficient, and effective users of ideas and information.

Grade School

Come enjoy the new books and old favorites! Students in Montessori through second grade enjoy story time or puppets every week before checking out. Students in first and second grade participate in the Show-Me Reader program where they listen to ten books and vote on their favorite. Third graders learn to use the electronic catalog, book location, and using reference materials. They have a reading challenge. Students in grades four through six may participate in the Mark Twain/Truman reading challenge and the Battle of the Books, as well as book location and using reference materials. Introduction of the Show-Me Reader and Mark Twain/Truman programs will be coming soon. The lists may be accessed by parents from the library catalog.

High School

Notre Dame de Sion's High School Library has over 7,300 books, a variety of newspapers and periodicals, subscription based databases, including JSTOR, to help augment classroom instruction.  Students may check out any of the library's books for four weeks.  If girls cannot find what you are looking for they may borrow the material from another library or submit a book request to here.

Sion is a member of the Kansas City Public Library's Library Service Program. This allows Sion's students to borrow resources from more than 20 libraries in the metropolitan area, including public, university, theological and K-12 libraries. The inter library loan courier service comes weekly. The librarian is always available to assist students.

Both Campus Resource Centers have digital catalog resources including iPads and supplemental desktops or laptops for student use and are located adjacent to out technology labs which house our iMacs and other computer and peripheral equipment for students to check out as needed.
