Notre Dame de Sion School Announces New Head of School

Christina Broderick has been selected as the Head of School of Notre Dame de Sion School in Kansas City, Mo., effective July 1, 2012. Broderick will succeed current Head Alice Munninghoff who has held the position for the past 22 years.

“We welcome her with great enthusiasm to the Notre Dame de Sion community,” said Pat Hardin, Chair of the Board of Trustees.  The Board’s unanimous decision to select Broderick followed the enthusiastic and unanimous recommendation of the Search Committee.

Broderick brings over twenty years of experience as an educator and administrator to Sion. She received her undergraduate degree in psychology and Women’s Studies at Mount St. Mary’s College in CA, her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction  from University of Scranton, PA.   She began her career in Catholic education and worked in a variety of capacities including teaching, administration, and campus ministry. Currently, she serves as Dean of Students at Parish Episcopal School in Dallas TX.

She said that, “I truly feel that the sum of my experiences professionally, personally and, most importantly spiritually, have brought me to the Sion community at a time when I could be of maximum service to Sion as well as to my own family. I am humbled and honored to follow in the footsteps of Alice Munninghoff, and I look forward to the journey that lies ahead.”

The selection of Broderick concludes an exhaustive yet reaffirming process to Identify Alice Munninghoff’s successor. The process of selecting Broderick included many in-depth conversations regarding the Sion culture, programs and priorities. During her visits, Sion’s Trustees, faculty, staff and parents were impressed with Broderick’s passion for education and struck by how similar her educational philosophies and beliefs are to Sion’s core mission.
