1. Is there an application fee? Yes, $50

4. Is there admissions testing? Yes, beginning in fourth grade. Prior to that student evaluations are made during the ‘visit day’.

5. Are you a coed school? Yes, Pre-school-Grade 8 and all girls, Grades 9-12.

6. What is the focus of your curriculum? College preparatory

7. How diverse is Sion? We have a 32% minority school population composed of African American, Hispanic, Asian and Mid-eastern students.

8. Do you have an after-school program? Yes, until 6 p.m.

9. What are the school hours? School starts at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 3:15 for pre-school to grade 2 and 3:30 p.m. for grades 3-8. Extended day is from 7:30 to 8:00 and 3:30 to 6:00 p.m.

10. How large are classes? Pre-school has an 11:1 student teacher ratio. Kindergarten, Grades 1 through 5 ranges from 16 to 20 students. Middle School maximum ranges from 18 to 20 students per class.

11. Do you have a summer program? Yes, it runs for eight weeks.

12. Do students wear uniforms? Yes, beginning in Kindergarten

13. Is Sion a Catholic school? Yes. We have an affiliation with the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph to be a Catholic School and with the Sisters of Notre Dame de Sion to maintain their name and mission of building bridges among all peoples. Most of the students (60%) are non-Catholic. Our religion program is called Holy Ground which is driven by the Sion mission.

15. Is the school in a safe neighborhood? We are located in Hyde Park, an historical area with lovely, restored mansion homes. There is a security guard who monitors the grounds during school and extended day hours.
